A Letter from Kris Hagerman, CEO.

Dear Sophos Community,

COVID-19 is having a profound effect on all of us, both personally and professionally.

First and foremost, our thoughts are with all of those whose health has been directly or indirectly affected by this global pandemic, and we send along our best wishes and strength for a full and speedy recovery. And we join with all of you to celebrate and applaud the brave heroes of our healthcare systems around the world as they work tirelessly and selflessly to care for people in need.

At Sophos, our mission is to protect our customers from cybercrime. And that is never more important than in a crisis. Cybercriminals are aggressively taking advantage of the pandemic in their attacks, preying on people’s urgent need for information. Advanced, effective protection is more important now than ever.

Keeping your business secure
Sophos has been fully operational throughout this challenging period, and rest assured that we continue to provide non-stop cybersecurity. All departments, including threat intelligence, protection, and response from SophosLabs, Managed Threat Response, and Global Support Services are operating at full strength to provide 24×7 detection, protection, and technical support. We have a robust set of systems and processes in place that enable virtually our entire team of over 3,600 employees to work remotely. As a globally distributed security company, this is something we’ve had in place for years. We’re ready.

Protecting your new reality
Many of you will have employees working from home, perhaps in some cases for the first time on an extended basis. To support this transition, we are offering tools and resources that we hope can be helpful:

  • All Sophos customers can protect all their employees’ personal PCs and Macs for free with our Sophos Home Commercial Edition program. It gives your staff the same advanced, enterprise-grade protection they already have in their office or work environment, but for their home devices. For more information and to request your free access, please read this blog post.
  • Sophos virtual XG Firewall is free for 90 days to support anyone who needs to set up IPsec or SSL VPN connections for secure remote access. You can deploy using your preferred virtual environment, including VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, and KVM. Simply complete the free trial form to get up and running or find out more in this blog post.
  • We have published security best practices to help anyone enable remote working. This advice includes operating practices and technology recommendations, as well as specific capabilities within our endpoint, firewall, and mobile solutions that support remote working.

Sharing real-time information to keep you safe
We are continuously updating our threat intelligence to help you stay safe, and to keep you fully informed on the latest insights from the security community. Our threat experts around the world are identifying, detecting, and blocking COVID-19-related attacks. These efforts include the following:

  • Tracking and updating COVID-19 and Coronavirus-themed cyberthreats on SophosLabs Uncut
  • Publishing indicators of compromise we discover for related threats in a public GitHub to enable the wider cybersecurity community to help stop these attacks
  • Communicating with the community via a Slack channel launched by Sophos Chief Scientist, Joshua Saxe, for open collaboration to help take on pandemic-themed threats

All of us here at Sophos are here to support you. We plan to continue to introduce new initiatives to help you stay better protected. Stay tuned to our communications channels for the latest information. And if there is anything we can do to help you or support you during these challenging times, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Stay safe, and stay healthy.

Kris
