As we approach the final order date for Sophos UTM (SG) renewals on December 31, 2025, we’re announcing an additional incentive to help you persuade your customers to upgrade instead of renewing.

As part of a renewal product transition using our migration promotions, UTM customers can already receive 3 months of extra term for their existing SG subscriptions at no additional cost. This serves as a license overlap, giving them and you, as their partner, more time for the migration.

On December 4, 2025, we plan to extend that offer to also cover 4, 5, and 6-month overlap terms. The changes should be implemented by 10 am UK/11 am CET.

Why renew when you can refresh and save?

Many UTM customers are still opting to renew one last time. The main reasons they renew instead of migrating are:

1. A renewal is a quick and easy way to extend the use of their SG.
2. They (or you) don’t have the time to handle the migration right now.
3. They don’t have the budget for the refresh until 2026.

While #3 is a valid reason to wait until next year, this new offer provides a compelling reason to upgrade, addressing points #1 and #2, as it gives your customers the best of both worlds:

1. They get the extra term on their UTM (SG), and at the same time, save themselves the cost of the renewal.
   • They also get access to overlap terms that are no longer available for standard renewals (3/4/5 months)
2. They (and you) gain a longer, more flexible window to complete the migration.

The extended overlap – with both firewalls running in parallel – provides valuable extra time and greater flexibility for both partners and customers to schedule and complete the migration before the EOL. Having the new firewall delivered and ready to go when the license starts, even allows for unforeseen date changes, as the SG license is valid for the full overlap period.

How it works

The quoting process is outlined below – the only change to the existing process is that you can now additionally offer 4-, 5-, and 6-month terms. See below for further details on the availability of each overlap term.

Discounts will only be applied if the promo codes are used correctly after the changes are implemented on December 4.

Renewal Product Transition (Migration): Transition the existing subscription Convert one of the customer’s current SG subscriptions to Xstream Protection with a minimum 3-year term. Add the hardware component Include the XGS Series appliance (not required when transitioning from SW/virtual to SW/virtual). Configure the license overlap Add new line item(s) for the SG subscriptions covering the overlap period Set the end date(s) for your required overlap term (3, 4, 5, or 6 months) Important: End dates cannot extend beyond the EOL date of June 30, 2026 Clean up the quote Remove any additional SG renewal line items that are no longer needed. Apply the discount Use the appropriate promo code (see codes below) to activate the discount.   Important limitations: License overlap cannot be used with amend/amend and extend transactions; however, you can use the promo codes to get all other discounts. A quick reference guide detailing the process is available on the Partner Portal. For standard renewals: The 3-, 4-, and 5-month terms must not be used for regular SG renewals. Use is only allowed for product transitions to XGS/Xstream Protection. All quotes are monitored for incorrect use.

 

Promo codes

The extended term must be manually added to the quote (once the change is active).

• For customers migrating to XGS Series hardware from either an SG Series appliance or UTM SW/virtual use:
  • All-in-one promo: SG_XGS_REFRESH_GLOBAL (preferred option – available since Sep 22, 2025)
  • SG_XGS_3Y_Xstream_Central
  • SG_XGS_3Y_Xstream_APAC
  • SG_XGS_3Y_Xstream_ROW
• For customers migrating from UTM SW/virtual to SFOS SW/virtual use (the promo code name will not be changed):
  • UTMSW_REFRESH_3M_GLOBAL

You must not combine multiple promo codes that offer a discount on XGS and Xstream on the same quote.

 

License overlap term availability 

The license overlap is a limited-time offer.

As no term can extend beyond the EOL date, the available overlap terms will expire as follows:

• The 6-month overlap offer will expire on December 31, 2025.
• The 5-month overlap offer will expire on January 31, 2026.
• The 4-month overlap offer will expire on February 28, 2026.
• There’s no change for the 3-month overlap offer, which will expire on March 31, 2026.

We have no plans to offer an overlap for 1- and 2-month terms.

 

Restricted use of all sub-6-month terms

The 3-, 4-, and 5-month terms may be used for this purpose only and must not be used for any other renewal transactions.

We monitor the use of our SG promo codes and all sub-6-month renewal terms.
