We are making some important updates to Sophos MDR to help you take full advantage of the huge demand we’re experiencing for our service. Read on to learn about:

MDR Service Tiers

We are streamlining the MDR service tiers to help you in your customer discussions:

1. The Sophos MDR service tier will be re-named Sophos MDR Essentials. The features and benefits of this service tier remain unchanged. MDR Essentials is designed for four primary target customer use cases:

  • Microsoft Defender users, enabling them to benefit from 24/7 expert-led detection and response that leverages their existing investments without the operational burden of standing up their own team/ SOC.
  • Organizations running third-party endpoint solutions, including those using both Sophos and another vendor.
  • Organizations that already have a SOC but want to supplement and expand their expertise with the Sophos team and/or use Sophos for 24/7 monitoring and containment while the in-house team retains ownership of incident response.
  • Partners that want to offer some detection and response services supplemented by round-the-clock monitoring by Sophos.

The name change to the description of quoting parts and SKUs will go live in the Sophos Partner Portal on July 12, 2023, for both term and MSP. Active subscriptions and quotes for the Sophos MDR tier will be automatically updated to Sophos MDR Essentials. The SKU itself will be re-named later this year.

2. The Threat Advisor service tier has been withdrawn, simplifying our licensing options. A price list update was issued on June 2, 2023 announcing the immediate End of Sale of this SKU. Please contact your Sophos team if you have open opportunities for this service tier.

3. MDR Complete remains unchanged. It continues to be our fastest growth and most successful tier of service.

 

 

Enforcement of Full Estates for MDR Complete

Customers with MDR Complete on just part of their estate are not able to take full advantage of the benefits of the service because key components, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Incident Response, are explicitly tied to Sophos’ ability to respond across the full estate.

Going forward, we are removing the ability for customers to run MDR Complete in mixed estates. Customers will only be able to purchase or renew MDR Complete for their full environment.

Existing MDR Complete mixed estate customers can continue with their current licensing up to renewal, at which point they will need to choose whether to run MDR Complete across endpoints and servers, or downgrade to MDR Essentials. We are introducing a promotion to help move these customers to MDR Complete full estates.

MDR Essentials can be run across partial estates if required, although we recommend a full estate deployment as it delivers the best customer outcomes.

 

Mixed Estate to Full Estate 50% Saving Promo

As mentioned above, a full estate deployment delivers the best customer outcomes. By far the most common mixed estate scenarios are:

  • MDR Complete on servers and MDR Essentials on endpoints
  • MDR Complete on servers and no MDR service on endpoints

To help you migrate these customers to a full MDR Complete environment so they can take full advantage of the service, we have a brand-new promo that provides a 50% discount on Sophos MDR Complete for endpoints.

This promo is only available to customers currently running Sophos MDR Complete on their servers only (with or without Sophos MDR Essentials on their endpoints).

Sophos MDR Threat Response Demo Video

We’re excited to share a real-life example of how Sophos MDR responds to a phishing email attack. The video highlights how the team quickly identifies the attack and takes action to contain the threat and prevent any further damage.

Threat response actions are one of the key differentiators between our MDR Essentials and MDR Complete service tier. Watch this video to educate yourself on response actions and share it with your customers.

 

Sophos NDR Insight Reports

Sophos Network Detection and Response (NDR), available with our MDR service, analyzes activity and traffic flows deep inside the network to detect abnormal, suspicious behavior that can be indicative of attack. Our new set of 23 queries and reports enables customers to explore the NDR data and flow-based activity that it sees.
