Based on feedback and requests from our valued customers and partners, we are pleased to be removing RAM restrictions on Sophos Firewall virtual, software, and cloud licenses. All new and existing virtual, software, and cloud (BYOL) instances of Sophos Firewall will no longer have RAM restrictions as part of their license and will now be restricted only by CPU core count. This change is effective as of March 1st, 2025.
All existing virtual, software, and cloud (BYOL) instances of Sophos Firewall can now utilize all the allocated RAM (No upper limit) irrespective of the RAM parameter in the purchased license. Simply restart the firewall to remove the RAM restriction on existing deployments after the changes are effective.
The names of the licenses won’t change, for example, “SFV4C6” (4 cores and 6GB) as shown on your Control Center, will remain unchanged, but there will no longer be RAM restrictions associated with these licenses.
This should help streamline deployments and license management for many of you, unlock additional value by enabling added performance headroom, and smooth sales of virtual, software, and cloud firewalls.
