The release of Sophos Firewall OS v20 MR1 marks the end of an era for Sophos RED.
Customers using the end-of-life RED 15, RED 15w, and RED 50 will need to upgrade their devices to SD-RED 20 or SD-RED 60 before upgrading to v20 MR1. Depending on the requirements, customers could also consider our smaller XGS Series firewalls as a RED alternative.
Time for a full hardware refresh?
At a time when many of you are already in conversation with your customers about a hardware refresh from XG to XGS, it’s important to check what other devices they have connected to the firewall.
RED 15/15w and RED 50 have been EOL since August 2023, so customers have had a generous grace period to plan their upgrade.
Another product that you may want to ask about are the EOL AP Series access points. While they will still work on XG and SG (use is at the customer’s own risk), they are not supported on XGS and, at some point, we will also remove support for those devices.
Our XGS Refresh Promotions can significantly reduce the cost of a hardware upgrade.
EOL Products
You should strongly advise customers against the continued use of any EOL product.
